With the New Year finally upon us, the time is here for us to make those changes and improvements we’ve been saying all year that “we’ll get to”. For many, this means renewing that unused gym membership and for others, it might mean saving a little more cash, opposed to spending it. Whatever the case, January 2016 is the month for new resolutions! But what about your business, is now a good time to implement a change for the better? You bet. Because when it comes to your law firm’s website, it is imperative that you invest in it. So if you are looking for a way to spruce up your law firm website and online presence in 2016 then follow these five fast fixes:

  1. Tailor your mobile site to mobile customers.
    • Having a web site that is compatible for mobile devices is one of the most valuable things you can do for your site. In fact, a recent study by Equation Research showed that 74% of users abandon any webpage that doesn’t load on their mobile device within 5 seconds. In addition, to simply keeping users, a mobile device compatible website boosts your SEO (i.e. it’ll help to get you ranked higher on Google search results). If you wish to check out your current website’s mobile compatibility, take one of the many free tests available online, such as Google’s Mobile-Friendly test.
  2. Build local links through local partnerships and donations.
    • Local link building isn’t solely a way for localbusinesses to gain page authority. Rather, it is a great way for all businesses to build up their site authority (Are you unsure about what quality link building is?. Start to build local links by reaching out to those within your community through associations, networks, etc. Donation links on the other hand can be done right now from your computer. https://www.quicksprout.com/university/how-to-build-authority-with-donation-links/
  3. Grow AND use your email list.
    • If you didn’t know already, you’re about to learn. Out of all of the various Internet marketing avenues, emails have one of the highest ROIs. They are by far one of the most successful proven tools you have at your disposal. So what am I saying here? Use email, people! A few simple tips to effectively do so include
      • Double check that the deal or “what’s in it for me?” is clear.
      • Run a contest or something of the sort to get people engaged!
      • Publish a newsletter (and make it exciting)! Go law!
      • Monitor your tactics and learn about your audience.
      • And really bring it all together by including social sharing buttons.
  4. Monitor your reputation.
    •  Feedback can be one of the most effective ways to improve your business, but what if you aren’t getting any? Fortunately, there are several free online tools that will help you determine what your law firm’s online presence is. Some of the easiest and best include: Google Alerts, Talkwalker Alerts, Social Mention, and Topsy. Through these tools you can find criticisms, compliments, comments, questions, and fans, all crucial factors in determining your law firm’s online reputation (and what you can do to improve it).
  5. Give away some expert tidbits (i.e. create videos, inforgraphics, FAQs)
    • If I had to take a guess, I think it’s pretty safe to say that you’re probably an expert at what you do, fair enough? So why not share that knowledge with everyone else? Of course there are limits as to what you should do, but no one likes someone who isn’t willing to give out anygood and sound advice without charging you for it. Be generous with your knowledge. Supply it to those who need it and trust us, you will begin to see the benefits of doing so. For instance, people might start sharing what you put out there with others because hey, it’s just so darn good (which hey again, is a really great way to get your name in front of more people). Or perhaps others will begin to see the value in your services and will dually appreciate your customer service demonstrated through your generosity. Seriously guys, give this one a go!

Any change, no matter how big or how small, can seem daunting and unattainable. But if you focus on the big picture, and stick with it, the results of these five fast fixes will astound you. See for yourself.
